The article highlights the problem of the need to reform the institution of punishment in the form of correctional labor. The current version of Article 50 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation provides for the possibility of assigning correctional labor to convicts who have their main place of work and do not have it. At the same time, more than half of those sentenced to correctional labor experience difficulties in finding employment, which, in turn, hinders the execution of punishment and may lead to its inefficiency. The problems of law enforcement related to the execution of criminal penalties in the form of correctional labor by persons who do not have their main place of work are considered. Based on statistical data on the execution of correctional labor, a solution to the problematic issue arising from the execution of correctional labor by persons who do not have their main place of work is proposed.
