Specialists traditionally recognize the work with juvenile offenders as complex and multifaceted, which requires constant enhancement of professional skills and increasing of knowledge level in order to succeed in this area. Therefore acquaintance with the experience of German specialists in the sphere of juvenile criminal law, especially in the sphere of arrest application as the form of coercive actions might be of certain interest.Arrest of a juvenile offender, considered herein as the short-term deprivation of liberty for disciplinary purpose, is applied in Germany in primis in respect of persons distinguished as repeated troublemakers. Arrest, being as ultima ratio, is quite often applied by juvenile courts in Germany. It is proved by statistics, represented in the article. In modern German law enforcement practice arrest is also applied as a primary sanction as well as the sanction, which enforces the juvenile offender to implement disciplinary measures, which were imposed earlier. During the long period of application of this measure the German law system has worked out various types and forms of arrest. They are distinguished by content and duration as well as by place of imposing the sanction. This allows to consider this measure to be one of the most important elements in the system of German Juvenile law.
