The article deals with a number of national features of convicts’ re-socialization process in the German penal system at the present development stage. Special attention is paid to the definition and perception of this process in the professional community, the characteristics of resocialization work and measures that have special dynamics in recent years and are aimed at achieving the main goal of German penitentiary institutions work, i.e. reintegration of a person into society. The multi-aspect nature of the process of prisoners’ resocialization has become a kind of brand of the German prison system in recent years. Part of directions in this work under the effect of general democratic changes in the continuing society humanization process assumes special practical importance and has been developing very intensively resulting in generally positive performance of the German penal system activities in total.
