In the article the periods of a restraint measure development in the form of house arrest are allocated. The result of a research of every period showed the causes and changes of the law regulating rules this measure of restraint.From the very beginning house arrest was applied to the highest estate. Hereinafter the major factors that have influenced house arrest are development of legal relations that were fixed in various rules of law; introduction of modern technical means at application of the specified measure of restraint.
