The article reveals the relevance of the study of the problem of crime, its essence. The possibilities of a socio-psychological approach to understanding crime are considered. At the same time, the difficulties that occur in defining the concept, structure, and study of various types of crime are analyzed. The effectiveness of the fight against crime is connected with their overcoming. Because of this, the most important task is to create a socio-psychological theory of crime. At the same time, the theory of various types of crime is an integral part of the general theory and practice of its prevention.
