In the article an attempt to analyze the separate provisions of the criminal and executive legislation of the Russian Federation regulating the questions of implementation the convicts’ right to religion is made. Besides, the following problems are considered: cooperation of a penal system of Russia with religious associations at present stage, statistical data on the number of the agreements signed by territorial authorities of the FpS of Russia with the centralized religious organizations registered in accordance with the established procedure are given, the quantity of the cult objects operatin in penal organizations of Russia; formation and activities of the institute of assistants to chiefs of territorial authorities of the FPS of Russia for the organization of work with believers, the implementation of occupational retraining programs.
