Topical issues and problems of use of systems of video surveillance of correctional facility for the solution of tasks of operational search activities and criminal trial are considered. On the basis of the analysis of the situation which developed today in practical activities a number of the factors influencing use of the specified technical means are revealed.The carried-out analysis of scientific sources, statistical yielded and results of practical activities allows to draw the following conclusions:in legal regulation of use of systems of video surveillance of correctional facility a number of contradictions and gaps exists operational devices;factors of organizational and technical and tactical nature exert impact on use of systems of video surveillance for the purpose of the prevention and disclosure of crimes;enhancement of operational search activities in the considered direction requires modification and additions in some legal acts, and also more accurate regulation of separate procedures;use of results of the crimes received by means of systems of video surveillance for disclosure shall be performed in close interaction operational search of the persons condemned to the punishments which aren't connected with imprisonment shall be performed in fixed interaction of operational divisions of penal correction system with bodies of inquiry and investigation; the main directions of increase in efficiency of use of systems of video surveillance in operational search activities are: improvement of technical characteristics of the equipment, increase in professional training of operational employees, modification and additions in the regulations regulating an order of application and use of data.Proceeding from tasks which face operational divisions of places of detention it is possible to allocate the following directions of use of systems of video surveillance: prevention of crimes and violations of an established procedure of serving sentence; disclosure of crimes; identification of persons from which it is possible to expect making of crimes; documentation of criminal acts; use of the received results in criminal trial.
