On the basis of the analysis of the current legislation regulating activity of places of detention for the persons who have committed crimes and other offenses, on the basis of the analysis of the legal status of these persons there have been revealed peculiarities of ensuring the rights, freedoms and legitimate interests of the persons that are contained in them. This question is illustrated by means of an example of places of detention of law-enforcement bodies: temporary detention centers of suspects and defendants; places of serving of administrative detention; special rooms for persons detained for administrative offences; detention centers for minors; special establisments for foreign citizens and persons without citizenship which are subject to administrative exclusion out of the borders of the Russian Federation, deportation and readmission.
